Communities of Practice

In this view, learning as an act of membership in a "community of practice." The theory seeks to understand both the structure of communities and how learning occurs in them. Learning is basically a social activity.

Teaching strategies:

• Guide group discussions
• Gather feedback on their experiences and put them into a communal arena
• Group problem-solving
• Encourage group members to recall their group memories (what we discussed and learned together)
